This Wes Anderson-Inspired adidas SL Loop Was Never Released

As a part of Sole Collector‘s One of One series, in which they explore the rarest and most exclusive sneakers and the stories behind them, Extra Butter creative director Bernie Gross recently dished on a Wes Anderson collaboration that never saw the light of day.

In utilizing adidas‘s 2014 silhouette, the SL Loop, Gross and his team pulled inspiration from Anderson’s 2014 film The Grand Budapest Hotel, namely looking to lead character Mr. Gustave. Here, we see the sneaker done up in velour, welcoming gold crossed keys on the heel tab.

The project was originally slated to be a friends and family release, consisting of 100 pairs, but due to complications the drop never took place. In short, issues revolving around copyrighting prevented the collaboration from being unleashed, as you can hear all about the Wes Anderson adidas sneaker above.
