Pharrell’s New Adidas Collection Is Just What Your Summer Out-of-Office Wardrobe Needs

Kanye West might be getting a lot of the credit when it comes to building hype for Adidas, but Pharrell, who inked a deal with the brand before West stepped in, is definitely pulling his weight. Last year the ultimate multi-hyphenate took part in launching the Superstar sneaker in 50 different colors, and it went on to become Adidas’s most profitable shoe of 2015. Next month marks the arrival of Pharrell’s latest capsule collection for Adidas Originals, dubbed Pink Beach, and it should be on your summer must-cop shortlist.

The island-inspired collection launches online and in stores on May 5 and consists of heavily decorated jackets, shorts, T-shirts, and two elastic sneaker styles, a lace-up and a slip-on, in two fabrications, one striped and one white. The latter fabrication pays homage to the Stan Smith, exaggerating the proportions of the iconic sneaker’s grass-green heel tab. Of all the riffs on the shoe, it’s one of the cleverest renditions we’ve seen yet. And the best part? They won’t be marked up to luxury-brand prices like so many other riffs on the iconic sneaker.
